Hi

sorry to slowly running for the record of asking stupid questions, but i'm getting more and more into this mixer and have ideas and plans like there's no tomorrow :)

I'm experimenting with rtsp as a remote input using my local on-lan stream server as a source (i stream rtmp from fmle into it and connect vmix to it)

if i use the rtsp connector, i get an ever increasing delay, unless i tick the low latency box, but then the image goes to poor quality.
if i use the rtmp connector, there is a delay, which is constant and is ver usable (not really nice, i have to delay my other camera's to make the image work) but i can't record replays on rtmp, or set the sound.

are there settings i could use to improve the incoming rtsp (i have tried, but to no avail), or is this just known behavior and fixed in v10 which i can't wait to get my hands on (although my year of free updates has probly passed so i have to reach into the backpocket)

oh by the way in vlc the stream has a solid delay, so it's there, but constant.

Was just logging in to ask same / similar question, and here this was right on top ;)

I'm also using the RTSP input, I see < 1 second delay at input startup, but after 15 minutes or so it's grown to 30 or more seconds. Tried both with and without 'low latency mode' option, and buffer is set to 300ms. Stream is pulled from a Cube 220, 1080p @ 30 @ 10mb/sec, hardwired with only a Gigabit switch (was trying to see how it'd all work 'maxed out' - very nice BTW but for the delay).

Running vMix x64 9.1.0.31 on Win 7, i7 quad (laptop), 8 GB. Running way too much stuff at once - probably should have tried vMix solo on a fresh boot but increasing delay isn't quite what I'd expect anyway from maxing out the machine. CPU running about 15% average, with 1.5 GB free memory. Network utilization right about what I'd expect at 10mb/sec.

On similar subject, any realistic guidelines on how far one can go on the mixing rig? Assuming external encoding (just HDMI output), are 4 or 5 simultaneous live 1080p30 inputs plausible, perhaps along with one or two Flash overlays and a few videos 'in waiting'?

Plans and ideas - tell me about it - job suffers due to obsession, family moves out, lack of sleep causing delusions of being some sort of broadcast producer... (sad music in background).

Thanks,
David McBride

Hi Guys,

Could you please try the following small update:

http://www.vmix.com.au/download/vmix9.exe (9.1.0.34)

In particular it fixes an issue with how vMix deals with certain bitrates from the Cube.
(And maybe other RTSP sources as well, but the additional devices support is not being added until vMix 10)

Also, as a note to anyone who has any issues with the Teradek Cube devices, feel free to
email us at info@vmix.com.au for a fast response as the Cube is an officially supported device.

Regards,

Martin

that seems to do at least some trick.. (i have been running for an hour now but it's still about a second delay , which is to be expected in my current setup, yesterdays test would have been tens of seconds by now)

the 'lowlatency' switch still makes the image quality unusable.

Martin you rock!

The update looks to have solved my issue (the Cube) - ran it for about 10 minutes and no perceptable change in delay - subsecond throughout.

I'll run a longer test this weekend, and also compare results with the two low latency settings.

One bonus - I had noticed a slight 'stutter' before, perhaps in sync with the key frames - that's gone now as well.

Thanks again,
David McBride
