Hi,

I have a camera with G711 audio encoding. When use RTSP protocol to retrieve the video/stream streams, vMix fails to decode the audio stream. Does vMix support G711? And, what audio encoding format does vMix support?

Secondly, I have a camera connect through RTSP over TCP. It works properly by using VLC or other players but vMix always reconnect every 30 sec. RTSP over UDP has no such issue. Would this relate to RTSP protocol, cam issue or software issue?

Thank you.

See http://www.vmix.com.au/h...14/index.htm?Stream.html
audio must be AAC - vMix doesn't 'do' G711 audio unfortunately

What make/model of camera is it you are having trouble with?
As far as I know, vMix pulls the RTSP stream in with a VLC plugin so if it works in one, should work in the other.
Try adjusting the buffer setting to something really low like 5 miliseconds and see if that helps.
Or try RTSP over UDP - you might need experiment by check or uncheck the 'low latency' option and see which works best for your camera

have a high def camera (1080p) but only puts out g711 audio and cannot get vmix to see it. Is there a plugin to get this audio to work at all?

Not the most ideal solution, but we have a similar camera (rtsp / mjpeg), which we pull in with VLC, outputing via the NDI plugin (in VLC),
and then bring into vmix via NDI.

You could use LVC & a virtual audio cable.

You can receive the audio stream into VLC running locally on your vMix system. In VLC select as the playback device the virtual audio cable.

In vMix add the virtual audio cable output as an audio source.
